How to let contributors edit blog posts
WordPress is a multi-user platform from where you can add different users role. On WordPress, there are different users roles like the admin, editors, contributors and many more. The best part is you can assign different capabilities to different users through WordPress has set different user base roles for different users. We all know WordPress is known for its high customizability. Using a plugin you can add specific roles for specific users. On this blog, I will show you how you can allow contributors to edit any blog posts after it has been published. 
Step 1: First, you need to go to the backend of your WordPress website. To do that you need to add /wp-admin after your website’s URL. Suppose if your website’s URL is www.example.com then you need to type www.example.com/wp-admin. This is the universal login for every WordPress website.

Step 2: After you log in, you need to make sure you have logged in as admin. As I mentioned earlier there are different user role on WordPress. The admin has access to all type of information and functionalities, including adding and removing ones also. To let contributors edit blog posts you need to install a plugin so make sure you login with your admin account or any account which has admin access.

Step 3: As I mentioned earlier you need to install a plugin. To do that you need to click on the plugin tab. This tab has all the information about all the plugin you have installed on your WordPress website. To add a new a plugin you need to click on this plugin.

Step 4: On this tab, you will find an option called add new at the top of your screen. To add a new plugin you need to click on Add New button.

Step 5: A new tab will open and you find few featured plugins. On the right side of your screen, you will find a search option. You need to search for the plugin and install it. Type User Capabilities on the search bar and install and activate it.

Step 6: After you activate the plugin you will find a new tab under the Users tab. To make it simply take step by actions so that you don’t get confused. Click on the user tab. This tab has all the information about the users who are currently on your WordPress website.

Step 7: Now you will see that there are few more tabs under the user’s tab. After you activate the plugin you will find a new tab has been added under the Users tab. The new tab is capabilities. You can control all the user capabilities from this tab. Click on the Capabilities tab.

Step 8: You need to select roles first. You will find a section on the right side of your screen from where you can select a role. Select the role ‘Contributor’.

Step 9: The left side of your screen has all the capabilities you can add to the user.  There are three types of capabilities listed. The first one is editing capabilities, the second one is Deletion capabilities and the third one is Reading. Under the editing capabilities click under the edit published box next to posts section.

Step 10: On the middle left side of the screen there is Save changes options. Click on save changes to apply the function on the contributor. Now your contributors will be able to edit the posts which have been published.

WordPress is a plugin-based platform where you will find a plugin for everything and anything. But the problem is you need to find the correct one as there are many faulty plugins out there too.
