7 tips to optimize your blog for SEO
Now we know about blogs what they are and how they work. Suppose you wrote an excellent blog but nobody saw it or read it. You need to optimize your blogs so that it reached the 1st page of Google. In short, you have to SEO optimize your blog posts. What’s the point of writing an exceptional blog if nobody read it. I will discuss 7 tips which will help you to optimize your blog.
Optimizing keyword for blog posts doesn’t mean that as many keywords have to be incorporated in your blogs posts. This actually hurts your SEO as google see this as keyword stuffing. This is also not good for reader experience, as this is a ranking factor that search engines now give priority to making sure that you respond to your visitor’s intentions. Therefore, in your content, you should use keywords which do not feel unnatural or forceful. One or two long tail keywords for every blog post is a good approach. Although you are able to use more than one keyword in one post, make sure to keep the post focus narrow enough to make it possible to optimize for just one or two keywords. Long tail keywords are basically question-based keywords which helps your blog posts to say focused.
2. keywords on specific sections:
After you select one or two keywords you need to incorporate this into some specific areas of your blog posts. There are areas such as:
– Title Tags: You must include your keywords within the first 60 characters.
– Header & body: You must put the same keywords your header and body section and you must blend it with the content as you won’t be penalized for keyword stuffing. Your content must be focused on the needs of the audience.
– URL: URL is also an important factor as Google tracks the URL to place blogs on the search rankings.
– Meta Descriptions: Meta descriptions are short descriptions which appear on the search engine results so make sure you put some keywords there.
3. Mobile friendly:
Do you know mobile friendliness is a ranking factor for SEO as more people search on mobile rather than desktop? That’s why googles see 1st if the blog you posted is mobile friendly or not. You should use responsive design for your blog site. This will help your SEO as any link which lands back to your website will be divided between the separate URLs.
4. Proper meta description:
I already talked about meta descriptions before you need to understand how it works. A meta description is an extra text in SERPs that allows readers to find out about the link. The meta description provides searchers with the data they need to decide whether they are looking for your content and ultimately helps them determine whether they are going to click or not. This description has a maximum length of about 300 characters, suggesting that it wants readers to learn more about each outcome. Nowadays your blog meta description is not guaranteed to always be drawn in SERPs as it was once. As you can see, in other parts of your blog post, Google lets searchers find the search keywords, probably to create an optimal environment for search engineers to determine how the result matches their search.
5. Optimize image:
Blog postings should not contain only text, but images which can be used to explain the content. The search engine doesn’t look for images but the search for texts. Since search engines can not ‘see’ pictures the same way people are able to, the alt text of an image tells them the purpose of the image ultimately helping these images to appear in the result of Google Images. Alt text will also improve the experience of the user as it will show up inside the pictorial container if the picture is found or showed and will improve the accessibility of screen readers with poor vision.
6. Not too much topic tags:
Topic tags can help facilitate your blog content, but they can be harmful if you overuse them. You can get punished by search engines for duplicating the contents if you have too many similar tags. If you have to much topic tags on your current blog posts the take a moment to clean those. You can choose 10 to 15 tags and make sure they are not similar to each other.
7. Proper URL structure:
The framework of the URL of your web pages should make visitors understand what the web page is all about. Search engines favor Web page URLs that facilitate their understanding of the content on the page for them and website visitors. Take the example of this blog post https://www.ggtaskers.com/blog/2019/04/18/how-to-drive-traffic-to-your-website-with-quora/ This URL clearly represents what the content is all about.
By following these simple tips you can place your blogs higher on the SERPS and improve your web traffic and eventually higher conversion.
